Seeker Expedition is a short VR experience that takes you on a narrative journey across the mountain.
Merging interactive documentary with the immersion of virtual reality, the Seeker Expedition lets you explore a photogrammetry reconstruction of Mt. Everest and discover a series of accounts on the legacy of the most iconic mountain; from the impact of climate change, to the effects of high altitude on the human body, to the personal experience of sherpa captains. Seeker Expedition uses the medium of virtual reality to immerse you into a first-person narrative of the many facets of one of the most inaccessible places on Earth. It is a story that reveal itself only through exploration and serendipitous encounter.
The mountain is fully reconstructed through high fidelity photogrammetry and completely explorable in VR at a scale of 1 to 50. A number of interactive points of interests populate the landscape providing available content in the form of multi-parallax holographic infographics and 360 video footage taken from the real location. The voices of remarkable figures of the legacy of Everest will accompany your journey to the summit and back to base camp.
Seeker Expedition is a collaborative effort between Solfar, RVX and Seeker. It’s available on HTC VIVE, Oculus Rift and PS4 as part of Everest VR.
